What is cell phone flashing anyway?

Cell phone flashing can be described as simply changing the firmware in your cell phone to connect with another carrier. For example say you are on the Verizon network and you want to take advantage of a better plan on Metro PCS. What you would normally do is sign up with Metro and buy one of their cell phones to be connected. By flashing your phone or reprogramming it for Metro PCS you keep your existing phone and avoid a contract thus saving you a lot of money.
Cell phone flashing is legal and at http://www.yourcellular.net/xfilesharing/ you can get the files and programs you need to flash almost any CDMA phone.
